Alpha Fire Company upheld their annual tradition of giving St. Nick a ride around the neighborhoods of Centre County (Pennsylvania) in Truck 517, a Pierce Arrow XT aerialscope, all decked out in Christmas lighting and decorations.
For over 20 years, Alpha Fire has sponsored the Santa Run, takingthe jolliest elf throughout the communities while his elves hand out candy canes and Christmas cheer to children along the way. Volunteers decorate the vehicles beginning on 8 AM Christmas Eve and this year (with the assistance of some Christmas magic) two convoys carried Santa to spread more holiday cheer. With the help of the Nittany Amateur Radio Club, the convoys were trackable in real-time through www.aprs.fi and local residents could see when Santa was getting close to their neighborhood. For those on Twitter, @AlphaFireCo was also updating the whereabouts of everyone’s favorite elf.
More information about this great event can be found on Alpha Fire Company’s website: http://www.alphafire.com/santa-run-in-2015/.
